The Popular Owonifari Market In Oshodi was demolished today

The Owonifari Market in Oshodi has been demolished by the Lagos state government to make way for a bus terminal.
The market which has been in existence for more than  40 years and has been closed for some time to curb the security challenges in Oshodi.

According to the Commisioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, the area will be transformed to a an ultra-modern bus terminal.

"The Owonifari area will be transformed into an ultra modern bus terminal with new bus shelters that are befitting of a structured park in a mega city."

The demolition of the said area was directly supervised in the earlier hours of Wednesday by the Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode.
But the question remains, what then happens to the people who made a living from the shops and stalls that were demolished.
